Interview Eleven: Katie Addison-Saipe
Tell us some things about you...
My name is Katie and I am a creative, an intuitive, a spiritual devotee and a Naturopath. My biggest passions lie within the natural medicine industry and being able to help people care for their body, mind and spirit with herbs, nutrients and minerals. I'm big on empowerment and education within this scene too, and I am currently upskilling and moving deeper into the mental health space.
What is your favourite thing to do for you, daily?
I love my herbal teas. Having a tea is a non-negotiable ritual for me, it's my chance to put my phone down and be still. Whether or not you drink it all... well, there is therapy in just holding the cup and smelling the aroma!
Something you live by (or aim to live by)?
Something I am working on constantly is embodying my messages. Walking the talk. It's so easy for us to critique anyone and anything these days through means of social media and the world of hyperconnectivity. Enough of the comparison. Start living in alignment with your best self. Set your boundaries and learn how to show up for YOU. At the end of the day, comparison takes you out of focus and away from possible growth, evolution and peace within.
What is something you hope to offer to this world?
Within both my career and personal life, I hope to cultivate safe spaces for discussions around mental health and emotional wellbeing. I'd love to empower more young women and offer education around menstrual cycles, hormonal health and the sacred feminine. I'd also love to delve into some vulnerable discussions with those who lack a sense of purpose, or maybe haven't ever considered the importance of their spiritual wellbeing (however that looks for each unique individual).
What L’aura the Label piece do you love / wear the most? Why?
I adore my May Wrap Top (black). The most beautiful style that suits all body types and holds the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energy. I love the edges and angles of the kimono style, at the same time the long ties that wrap and shape your curves. I wear this all the time for work while typing away at my desk or dispensing liquid herbs. Ever so comfy, with effortless style.
What drew you to L’aura the Label at the beginning?
I was lucky enough to meet Laura at a yoga teacher training in Bali in 2017. We bonded over the fact we were some of the only kiwis (New Zealanders) there. I have loved everything Laura has launched and created from the beginning. You can feel her energy behind it all - conscious, grounded, relaxed. To me the clothes embody comfort and simplicity, and evoke summer evenings in Bali. There are clear ethics behind the garments and I am very drawn to their natural tones and textures.
