Interview Twelve: Emily Clarke

Emily

Tell us some things about you...
I’m a registered nurse working in New Zealand and while I have studied western medicine, I am very open to all types of healing and health treatments. My partner and I live in Auckland with our fur baby, Maisy. She helps a lot with anxiety, which I have been working through all my life. I think I am a gypsy at heart and while I enjoy security, I often crave new experiences and feel most alive when I’m travelling. I am learning to let go when I am feeling negative emotions and just to breathe through it.

What is your favourite thing to do for you, daily?
My first cup of tea in the morning. Those first few sips always feel special and even if I’m around people or working, it never ceases to calm me and give me a sense of joy.

Something you live by (or aim to live by)?
I have 2 things actually that I try to live by. Number one is that life is unpredictable and can change, so you have to make the most of every day. It’s a cliché, but it’s a good one. And secondly, that everyone is going through something. I try to remind myself to not be judgmental and to be kind. When you come to people with a sense of kindness and openness you help ease their burden and you often have a positive outcome also.

What’s up next for you?
Postgrad study and a trip to Bali! So looking forward to it.

What L’aura the Label piece do you love / wear the most? Why?
My Sania Skirt in white I wear CONSTANTLY, it goes with everything. I feel sexy, free and fun when I wear it. Having said that, I’ve just ordered the Luna dress so that may take first place soon!

What drew you to L’aura the Label at the beginning?
I worked with Laura through L’aura Healing and found every time I saw her I was coveting her clothes. I love that I’m supporting my friend when I buy more and I really love that I can see exactly where the money is going to and who it is for. A really valuable experience every which way.
